National Polycystic Kidney Disease Awareness Week: Committee on the Judiciary was discharged from further consideration of S. Res. 241, designating the period beginning on September 13, 2009, and ending on September 19, 2009, as ``National Polycystic Kidney Disease Awareness Week'', and supporting the goals and ideals of a National Polycystic Kidney Disease Awareness Week to raise public awareness and understanding of polycystic kidney disease and the impact polycystic kidney disease has on patients and future generations of their families, and the resolution was then agreed to.

Government of Afghanistan Elections: Senate agreed to S. Res. 251, expressing the sense of the Senate that the Government of Afghanistan, with the support of the international community, should fulfill its obligations to ensure that women fully participate as candidates and voters in the August 20, 2009, presidential and provincial council elections in Afghanistan.

Authorizing Leadership To Make Appointments--Agreement : A unanimous-consent agreement was reached providing that, notwithstanding the upcoming recess or adjournment of the Senate, the President of the Senate, the President Pro Tempore, and the Majority and Minority Leaders be authorized to make appointments to commissions, committees, boards, conferences, or interparliamentary conferences authorized by law, by concurrent action of the two Houses, or by order of the Senate.
