Economy

As I talk with families across the district, I constantly hear how people are struggling to afford the high costs of education, health care, gas and food.  In addition, the mortgage crisis has made the goal of homeownership harder to obtain and retain, as foreclosure rates are steadily increasing.  In this sluggish economy, even people who have good jobs are concerned about their future.

I believe that we must work to create and preserve good paying American jobs.  In Washington, one of my first accomplishments was working with members of the Illinois delegation and leadership of both parties to restore Fermilab’s funding, ensuring that high paying jobs were saved and allowing scientists to continue the research that is vital to our long term economic security.  I will work equally diligently to preserve and expand job opportunities and businesses throughout the 14th district.
