Brady rode through his district checking on how evacuations went. It's not over for emergency management as they now have to coordinate getting the special needs people back to Orange County, which is set to begin on Thursday.

Sam Houston State political science majors traveled to Washington late last week to tour Washington, D.C. and visit with Congressman Kevin Brady. The students were traveling with a program known as Journeys with Sam, lead by fellow student Katie Granger.

This organization offers kids leadership training for older students and for younger students after school and athletic activities. Congressman Brady attends July 4 festivities with wounded U.S. soldier from the Afghanistan front Kenny Adams.

Joined by other dignitaries, Congressman Brady participates in the renaming ceremony for the Houston Veterans Medical Center.  The hospital was named in honor of world renowned heart surgeon, Dr. Michael E. DeBakey.  The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston is one of the top hospitals in the nation.
