CHICAGO—Today, Rep. Mike Quigley (IL-05) issued the following statement after the passing of Ron Santo.
“This morning, I join Cubs fans across the globe in mourning the loss of one of our own. Ron Santo’s joy, devotion, and eternal optimism embodied the best of the Cubs from his All-Star playing days to his years in the broadcast booth. Whether it was clicking his heels at his familiar third base post or leading the fight against juvenile diabetes, Ron wore his heart on his sleeve. He will be missed by everyone who ever had the pleasure to watch him play or hear his voice on the radio, and it is my hope that he will one day take his place among baseball’s all-time greats in Cooperstown.” |
