Economic Development

Senator Murray’s top priority is growing Washington state’s economy and creating jobs. This is especially important in rural and underserved areas, where tribal reservations are often located.

Today, Washington’s tribal businesses contribute more than $3 billion to the state’s economy. They are also helping tribes expand services to tribal members, invest in real estate, and bring new wholesale and retail options to rural areas. These businesses benefit local communities too, as revenues are reinvested in everything from parks and roads, to schools and museums. More importantly, tribal businesses are putting people to work, creating good-paying jobs in rural areas and tribal communities.

Senator Murray will continue her work to give tribal governments and businesses the tools they need to succeed.
