Washington, Dec 1 -

Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45), a senior member of the House Committee on Energy & Commerce  Subcommittee on Communications, Technology and the Internet, released the following statement in response to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Julius Genachowski’s expressed interest in regulating the internet:

“The Obama Administration and this Federal Communications Commission’s relentless push for the federal government to intrude into more and more aspects of American business is the wrong way to grow the American economy and create jobs,” stated Bono Mack.  “The internet has progressed and thrived precisely because it has not been subjected to the suffocating effect of the federal government’s heavy hand.”

“I am deeply disappointed that Chairman Genachowski continues to go down this path.  I ask him to put aside his intentions to impose these unnecessary regulations on the Internet and instead join us in advancing  policies that will help put Americans back to work. ”
