Economic Growth
As our country continues to recover from what many have called the “Great Recession,” Senator Landrieu is working on policies that will promote smart growth, increase trade and create jobs. As Chair of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, she is working to ensure that Small Businesses have the access to capital they need to grow and succeed.
Senator Landrieu is also working to ensure we learn from the events that have led to the economic turmoil the country has been experiencing and what needs to be done to ensure we put the proper safe-guards in place to prevent them from happening again. At the same time, she wants to ensure that any legislation that is passed does not stifle future growth.
In addition to policies that will help our economy grow, Senator Landrieu is mindful of the need to tackle our growing national debt. That is why she has been a supporter of the creation of an independent commission that would make legislative recommendations to Congress on how to reduce our debt, with a requirement that Congress must vote on these recommendations.
