Luetkemeyer Statement on Today's Corps of Engineers Plan H Public Meeting

OLD MONROE, MO – U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) today issued the following statementon the public meeting in which residents of Pike, Lincoln, and St. Charles Counties provided input about the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) proposed flood risk plan along the Upper Mississippi River known as Plan H.

“I am certainly pleased that our hard-working river community residents had an opportunity today to discuss their concerns about the proposed flood risk plan known as Plan H. It is very important that the federal government takes the time to listen to the concerns of the people. During my meetings with Corps officials over the last few months, I specifically requested that public meetings be held so people could publicly express their concerns directly to the Corps. There is a lot at stake when it comes to the proposal currently being considered, and I am hopeful that the Corps will take into account those concerns voiced by all the citizens before making any recommendation or final decision. I look forward to continuing to work with all sides on this issue to ensure that we continue to protect river communities and ensure their economic vitality for years to come”
