Students requesting a nomination from Senator Bayh to attend one of the nation’s service academies must submit their applications and supporting materials to Senator Bayh’s Indianapolis office by Friday, October 1, 2010. Please note this is a revision to a previously announced deadline.
Residents of Indiana seeking a nomination to the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Naval Academy or the United States Military Academy may obtain applications online at: http://bayh.senate.gov/students/nominations/form/.
Applicants must be at least 17 years old, but not past their 22nd birthday on July 1 of the year they intend to enter an academy. Applicants must submit the following materials:
- An application form
- Three letters of recommendation
- A summary of extracurricular activities
- A high school transcript of courses, grades and class rank
- SAT/ACT scores (To send scores directly to the office, Senator Bayh’s SAT code is 1651, and his ACT code is 7127)
- A personal statement explaining why the candidate is seeking this nomination and why he or she wants to be commissioned to the academy
- A recent photograph
All nomination applications will be reviewed by Senator Bayh’s Academy Selection Committee. It is also recommended that applicants contact the academy in which they have shown interest to complete a pre-candidate questionnaire.
