PCNAA making donation to Tom Joyner Foundation
Paine College has been selected as Tom Joyner Foundation 2010 School of the Month (July). From January 2010- December 2010, all funds raised via the Paine College/ Tom Joyner Foundation Partnership will be sent directly to Paine for the students. The Tom Joyner Foundation is a major fundraising vehicle for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) formed by the nationally syndicated radio personality Tom Joyner. The Tom Joyner Foundation has assisted every HBCU, which is defined as “any historically black college or university that was established prior to 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education of Black Americans."

The scholarships will be awarded to the students through the Financial Aid Department at Paine, based on need and other requirements of the school and the donor. The more YOU give to the Tom Joyner Campaign for Paine, the more TOM will give to Paine College for her students. Help drive the dollars for scholarships by making your donation today.

The Tom Joyner Foundation will award scholarships ranging in amounts from $1,000 to $5,000 each to Paine students who qualify.

As one of the Tom Joyner Foundation’s “Schools of the Month,” Paine will receive funds from listeners, alumni, corporations and other interested parties during the month of July 2010. However, your contributions do not have to stop there. You can give to the campaign until December 31, 2010. Throughout the month, the Tom Joyner Morning Show, aired in 115 markets around the country and reaching nearly eight million listeners every week, will promote Paine and the campaign. The Foundation has raised more than $25 million over the past seven years to help thousands of students at some 80 HBCUs.

The 2010 HBCUs of the month are: January: Tuskegee University (Tuskegee, AL); February: Fayetteville State University (Fayetteville, NC); March: Shaw University (Raleigh, NC); April: Voorhees College (Denmark, SC); May: Virginia State University (Petersburg, VA); June: Philander Smith College (Little Rock, AK); July: Paine College (Augusta, GA); August: North Carolina Central University (Durham, NC); September: Texas Southern University (Houston, TX); October: Fort Valley State University (Fort Valley, GA); November: University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (Pine Bluff, AR).
