Klobuchar Statement on Anniversary of September 11th

September 11, 2009

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar released the following statement on the eighth anniversary of the attacks of September 11th.

“Today, Minnesotans join with all Americans in remembering the terrible day eight years ago when our nation was attacked. We remember those who were killed, as well as their families who continue to grieve. We remember the brave first responders who risked, and in many cases sacrificed, their lives to help others. And we remember the need for vigilance to make sure a terrorist attack like this does not happen to America.

"Many Minnesotans knew victims of 9/11.  And one Minnesota family lost their son, Tom Burnett, who was among the passengers who fought back against the hijackers on Flight 93 which then crashed into a Pennsylvania field.

“Although time may pass, let us always remember Tom Burnett and all whose lives were taken on that September day. Let us honor their memories by cherishing our country and the values we share as Americans."
