Internship Program

U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell offers internships in her Washington, D.C. and state offices for motivated individuals who want experiential education in the American political process. The Cantwell Internship Program is a hands-on learning experience that allows interns to work side-by-side with her Senate professional staff as they work on behalf of the Evergreen State.   For information about internship opportunities, please click here.

Washington, D.C. interns work in the areas of legislation, press, or scheduling and help ensure the smooth operation of her Capitol Hill office. In our state offices, interns work alongside constituent services and outreach staff and have the opportunity to learn firsthand about the constituent advocacy process.

Successful candidates will be rising sophomores or later in college (or recent graduates) who demonstrate leadership, thoughtfulness, creativity, a strong attention to detail, and a sense of public service.  Preference will be given to students who are from Washington state or are enrolled in a Washington state college or university. The Cantwell Internship Program is unpaid, and students are expected to arrange for their own housing, food and transportation. We are happy to work with your school so you can receive academic credit for your time in our office.

Thank you for your interest in interning for Senator Cantwell. Additional information is located in the internship packet below. To apply, please read and fill out the separate internship application.
