ACHP Announces 2011 Section 106 Training
Registration for the Section 106 Essentials Course and Section 106 Advanced Seminar is now open. Special registration rates are offered for individuals and groups who register for the Essentials Course and pay prior to December 15, 2010. Click here for more information and to register

Famed Tuskegee Airmen Airstrip Wins National Award
ACHP Chairman Wayne Donaldson and National Trust President Stephanie Meeks presented a joint historic preservation award October 29 at the annual conference of the National Trust for Historic Preservation in Austin, Texas. The National Park Service’s Moton Field, Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site, in Tuskegee, Ala. is the winner of the National Trust/ACHP Award for Federal Partnerships in Historic Preservation. McAlister Named History Teacher of the Year

Preserve America Grants Awarded
National Park Service Director Jon Jarvis and ACHP Chairman Wayne Donaldson, today announced $1.3 million in Preserve America grants to 22 projects in 16 states. Read more.

Successful Section 106 Outcome Makes Way for Historical Park in Wyoming
The ACHP participated in a Section 106 case which will preserve the Lander Road (a trail that was an alternative to the Oregon Trail in the years of westward expansion). ACHP Executive Director John M. Fowler said "This was a good outcome for all parties, demonstrating how the Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act enables projects while protecting our heritage when creatively applied." ACHP Awards Colorado Youth Summits
ACHP Chairman Wayne Donaldson gave the ACHP Award for Federal Preserve America Accomplishment to a variety of entities for their work in engaging youth in historic preservation at a series of seven Colorado Youth Summits. Read more.

ACHP Strategic Sustainability Performance Plan Now Available
In accordance with Executive Order 13514, “Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance,” the ACHP has developed a Strategic Sustainability Performance Plan. It addresses how the ACHP will enhance its energy efficiency and help promote historic preservation as a sustainability tool.

The ACHP is proud to announce it has updated and reissued Protecting Historic Properties: A Citizen’s Guide to Section 106. The Citizen’s Guide is a useful tool for learning how to protect historic places in your community.

America's Great Outdoors Wants to Hear from You
President Barack Obama has established the America's Great Outdoors Initiative to promote and support innovative community-level efforts to conserve outdoor spaces and to reconnect Americans to the outdoors, history, and places that are important to them. ACHP Updates Tribal Consultation Plan
While the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation has long had a consultation plan for dealing with tribal governments in existence, President Barack Obama's Nov. 4, 2009, executive memorandum served as the impetus for updating the plan and submitting it to the Office of Management and Budget to better comply with the directive.
