On September 15, 2010, President Obama announced that Troops eligible for retroactive pay will receive $500 a month for each month their service was extended. Under legislation signed into law last year, servicemen and women who served between September 11, 2001 and September 30, 2009 and whose service was extended due to ‘stop loss’ are eligible for $500 per month in retroactive pay for each month their service was extended.

The deadline for applying for retroactive pay is October 21, 2010. Eligible servicemen and women should submit their applications for this retroactive pay towww.defense.gov/stoploss.
