TONIGHT IN MIAMI : Ros-Lehtinen Hosts Military Academy Open House at Southwest Senior High; Interested Students & Their Parents Can Meet Ileana & Learn About The Congressional Nomination Process

Miami, Florida—Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen will host a Military Academy Night at Southwest Miami Senior High School TONIGHT Tuesday, November 9th from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. Prospective nominees and their parents are invited to learn about the Congressional nomination process, receive their academy nomination packets, and meet with Service Academy Liaisons to discuss the admissions process. 
 
Ros-Lehtinen will be accompanied by her Congressional Assistant, Daniel Pedreira, who will explain the Congressional nominating process in order for a student to be considered for a Service Academy appointment. The deadline for classes entering July 2011 is December 13, 2010.
       
WHEN: TONIGHT Tuesday, November 9th
 
TIME:    6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M.
 
        WHERE:       Southwest Senior High School’s Media Center, located at 8855 SW 50 Terrace, Miami
 
       WHY:             To explain the academy nomination process to interested students and parents from the 18th Congressional District.
 
 
Students and parents will also meet Academy Liaisons, Cadets and Midshipmen from the US Army at West Point, US Air Force at Colorado Springs, US Navy at Annapolis, the US Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York, and Coast Guard officials. Ileana’s daughter-in-law, Lindsay, graduated from the Naval Academy and has served as a Marine officer in both Iraq and Afghanistan and is now an English teacher at the Academy.
