Senator Claire McCaskill While Claire’s top priorities during this legislative session are capping spending, addressing the national debt, ending the practice of earmarking, growing the economy and creating jobs, S. 510 is important because it will ensure that families in Missouri can be even more confident that the food they’re placing on kitchen tables is safe.
Senator Claire McCaskill Claire supported S. 510 because it updates our food safety system to safeguard against outbreaks of food-borne illness, while protecting small producers from new regulations mentioned in the previous post. Food safety laws in our country had not been updated since the 1940s, contributing to more than 15 recent, high-profile food safety outbreaks.
Senator Claire McCaskill the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act will not prohibit Americans from growing their own food. In fact, the bill also exempts small producers that sell directly to restaurants, farmers’ markets and consumers from any additional record-keeping or performance requirements. In addition to eliminating earmarks, McCaskill has also fought to bring fiscal discipline back to Washington by introducing legislation to cap discretionary spending, introducing pay-as-you-go legislation and cracking down on waste and fraud in federal contracting.

I watched and learned as she, her sister (Beppy), and my mother turned out amazing meals. Time in the kitchen + family= heaven.
