December 2010 - On December 5, 1782, Martin Van Buren, America’s 8th president, was born to Dutch parents in Kinderhook, New York. The son of a tavern keeper and farmer, Van Buren studied law in New York City before returning to Columbia County to set up his legal practice. (more)
