Faces of the Fallen

As a World War II veteran, Senator Lautenberg wants to make sure we honor the sacrifice of America’s service men and women and created Faces of the Fallen for that purpose.

Faces of the Fallen is a memorial to the service members who lost their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Begun in 2004, the memorial is on permanent display outside the Senator's Washington, D.C. office.  A second installation has traveled in New Jersey.

Paying tribute to thousands of American service men and women, the memorial consists of nearly 100 placards, each containing the pictures, names, ages, hometowns and causes of death of service members who gave their lives to serve our country.

The memorial also has a memory book for visitors to record their thoughts.  In the book, families from New Jersey and across the nation have praised the memorial as a fitting and dignified way to honor the memory of these troops.

For those who cannot see Faces of the Fallen in person, or for those who have seen it and wish to experience it again, a virtual version of the memorial is available by clicking the links below.
