Galveston, TX - Job Fair set for 9 am – 2 pm Feb. 17, 2009, at the San Luis Resort and Conference Center

Congressman Ron Paul is pleased to again collaborate with the community of Galveston for the Oceans of Opportunities Job Fair on Galveston Island, the goal of which is to boost the local economy by helping job seekers and employers connect.  The annual event has become highly-anticipated and is needed now more than ever.

The Fourth Annual Oceans of Opportunities job fair will address the needs of those in the healthcare, service, administrative, and industrial fields, and all other area job needs.  Job seekers will have an opportunity to speak with employers from companies located in the Greater Houston area, the Galveston area and all across the country.  Organizers anticipate it will be the largest and best ever! 

“Because of recent lay-offs, Hurricane Ike and the tough economy, the job fair is especially critical this year for the people of the 14th district,” said Congressman Paul. “We are hoping many will participate.”

 Workforce Solutions will provide resume assistance and helpful hints for job seekers at the job fair.  “All job seekers should dress for success and bring copies of their polished resume to the job fair,” said Terri Simpton of Workforce Solutions.   

Several entities have come together to coordinate the Oceans of Opportunities Job Fair, including Congressman Ron Paul, Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas, the City of Galveston, the Galveston Chamber of Commerce, the Galveston Economic Development Partnership, UTMB and Workforce Solutions.  The job fair committee is hoping to gain additional partnerships and support from others as well.
