Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships

Mission

SBA’s Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships works to build strong relationships with both secular and faith-based nonprofit organizations to encourage entrepreneurship, support economic growth and promote prosperity for all Americans.

The Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships has two priorities within its mission:

The Center’s first priority is to build awareness of SBA programs and resources within faith-based and neighborhood communities in collaboration with SBA District Offices so that local organizations may bring that awareness to their members, congregants and neighbors.

SBA can work with non-profit organizations in many ways, including collaborating on financial education efforts, holding panels and conferences, helping non-profits connect with other organizations, and providing information for local entrepreneurs.

The Center’s second priority is to identify Faith-Based and Neighborhood non-profit organizations that are able to participate in SBA’s Microloan and 504 loan programs as intermediaries and actively encourage them to seek certification.

Since both the 504 loan and Microloan  programs require non-profit organizations to act as intermediaries, faith-based and neighborhood organizations can be excellent candidates for partnership with the SBA. These programs were among those expanded in the Small Business Jobs Act , signed by President Obama on September 27, 2010, allowing intermediaries to have an even larger economic impact.
