U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords will meet with representatives of local senior organizations and reporters in her Tucson district office, 1661 N. Swan, Suite 112, on Monday, Jan. 15.
She will be available to answer questions from reporters immediately afterwards.
On Friday, Giffords completed her first full week as a member of the 110th Congress by delivering her first floor speech on the need for a comprehensive overhaul of the nation's immigration laws. The speech capped a busy week in Washington. In addition to the Medicare and stem cell bills, the House also passed measures reforming its ethics rules, boosting the minimum wage, and implementing the recommendations of the bipartisan 9/11 Commission.
Reporters will be able to ask questions about these and other topics in a press conference expected to last about 45 minutes. The press conference will begin at 10.30 a.m.
Meeting with Giffords before the press conference will be: Marian Lupu, executive director of the Pima Council on Aging; Anna Jolivet, president of the Pima Council on Aging board; Jack Jewett, vice president at Tucson Medical Center; Steve Nash, executive director of the Pima County Medical Society; Fred Eberling of the Council of Senior Citizens Organizations; and George Evanoff, chairman of the Governor's Advisory Council on Aging.
