How to . . .
find legislation
You will need the bill number to find the legislation. If you do not have the bill number you can use a word or phrase that is associated with the legislation to search for the bill. You can also search by the sponsor or co-sponsor of the legislation.

Active Legislation is a list of current bills, arranged by subject, that have been receiving legislative or media attention. Bills are listed alphabetically by popular title or general subject. The list is updated weekly when the Senate is in session.
THOMAS provides legislative information back to the 93rd Congress (1973) by sponsor and cosponsor, committee, word or phrase, subject term, stage in the legislative process, and date of introduction. You may also browse lists of bills by Congress.
Libraries
Proposed legislation may be available in a federal depository library. The federal depository library program is made up of over 1,300 libraries that collect government documents and make them available to the public for borrowing or reading. A list of depository libraries is available on GPO's Web site. Most depository libraries are within a university or state library, so sometimes borrowing privileges are restricted.
