If you are a senior, and have encountered a problem with your healthcare or retirement benefits, we may be able to assist you.  If you are having difficulty receiving benefits from Social Security, Medicare, or your federal retirement (CSRS or FERS), please send us a letter detailing your concerns, along with a signed privacy release, and I will be glad to look into your case with these federal agencies.

Federal Retirees

If you are a retired federal employee, and are having difficulty receiving your annuity or health benefits, please contact me in writing, and I would be happy to look into your claim.  If you have general questions about your benefits, please visit the Office of Personnel Management Web site.

Healthcare/Long Term Care

If you have encountered a problem with your Medicare benefits, including billing or coverage of a particular procedure, I would be happy to assist in your claim with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services.  If you have general questions or concerns about your Medicare health benefits, or would like more information about the new Medicare Part D prescription drug program, please visit the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Web sites.

Private health insurance companies are regulated by the Oregon Insurance Division.  As a federal representative, I do not have the ability to assist constituents who have encountered problems with private health insurance companies (e.g. HealthNet, Regence Blue Cross, Kaiser Permanente).  If you have encountered a problem with your health insurance or hospital billing, please contact the insurance commissioner directly at:

Medicaid is a program that assists people with very low incomes acquire health insurance and long-term care services.  The Oregon Health Plan is an insurance program for low-income Oregonians that is operated by the state, utilizing Medicaid dollars. As these programs are regulated by the state, I do not have the ability to assist you in claims related to OHP.  If you are having a problem with the Oregon Health Plan or Medicaid long-term care, please contact the Governor's Advocacy Office or the Oregon Health Plan directly at:

Housing

If you have concerns about public or subsidized housing, please contact your county housing authority.  While federal funds are allocated for affordable housing for seniors, these funds are distributed by county-based housing authorities, so as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, I do not have the ability to intervene.
