Internships in my Washington, Chattanooga, and Oak Ridge offices offer great opportunities for college students to learn about Congress, the legislative process and relationships between the legislative and executive branches of government.

The intern program provides a valuable service not only to me and my staff, but also to the citizens of Tennessee’s Third District. An internship in my office provides capable young people a close-up view of the political process where they gain invaluable experience and unique insights.

Internships are available in all of my offices year-round and are an excellent way to earn school credit.

Washington

In Washington, interns assist the legislative staff and communications director on special projects, attend staff meetings with me, perform basic research projects and help with other office duties.

All interns are encouraged to participate in as much of the political experience on Capitol Hill as possible, and develop their personal areas of interest by following legislative issues in congressional committee meetings, hearings, lectures and seminars.

With its unmatched splendor and history, our nation’s capital is a unique place to live and work; and an internship in Washington is an experience that you will never forget.

To apply, please fill out the internship application below and e-mail it to our office. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact my intern coordinator at 202-225-3271.

Chattanooga & Oak Ridge

Working in a district office also offers hands-on experience in congressional affairs. An intern’s responsibilities in the district office are similar to those in Washington, but are more closely focused on the day-to-day concerns of the Third District. District interns work with federal agencies, assist with constituent casework, compile project information and work with local community and business leaders, offering a unique opportunity to see how policies and legislation developed in Washington help people at home.

If you are interested in the opportunities in one of my district offices, feel free to contact my intern coordinator in Chattanooga at 423-756-2342 or in Oak Ridge at 865-576-1976. To apply, please fill out the internship application and e-mail it to our office.
