Casework Assistance

 

Nydia Velázquez at a Chinatown eventThe Office of Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez is committed to assisting 12th District residents resolve individual problems they may encounter in dealing with federal agencies.  The casework staff can help ensure that NY-12 residents are treated fairly and their cases receive a full and timely review by the appropriate federal agency.

Congressional offices can often assist in providing information that is helpful in navigating many federal agencies.

Areas in which Congresswoman Velázquez’s office can provide support include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Military and Veterans’ affairs
  • Social Security and Medicare
  • Passports and Immigration
  • Small Business Concerns
  • Internal Revenue Service
  • Housing
  • Federal Student Loans

Congresswoman Velázquez seeks to provide open, barrier-free services for her constituents.  All District 12 residents seeking casework assistance must visit one of the three District offices, where they will be helped on a first-come, first-served basis.  The hours for casework assistance are Monday -Thursday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

When coming to the office for casework help, please bring all relevant documents pertaining to the case, including:

  • Recent correspondence sent to or received from the agency
  • Receipts for applications filed and fees paid
  • Other letters of support
