U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords will discuss the need for a comprehensive overhaul of the nation's immigration laws with members of the Tucson faith community on Friday, Feb. 23.
Giffords will host an hour-long discussion at her Tucson district office with Bishop Gerald Kicanas of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tucson; Josh Protas, director of the Jewish Community Relations Council; Marguerite Harmon, chief executive officer of Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona; and Rev. Jan DeVries, synod executive/stated clerk of the Synod of the Southwest, Presbyterian Church U.S.A.
According to Protas, the meeting is part of a coordinated national campaign by faith community leaders to reach out to members of Congress and emphasize the need for a just, fair, and humane immigration policy.
Giffords and the faith community leaders will be available for questions after their discussion.
