Citizens for Tax Justice says legislation passed last year means tax relief for 99 percent of state’s working families
TUCSON – U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords today welcomed a new report showing that 99 percent of Arizona’s working families and individuals benefited from tax cuts enacted by Congress and signed into law.
“Arizonans should ignore the politically motivated spin about whether the stimulus is working,” said Giffords. “The fact is that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act contained one of the largest tax cuts in American history. As April 15 approaches, it is reassuring to know that this tax relief will directly benefit tens of thousands of families and individuals throughout our state and across the country.”
The new report, released by Citizens for Tax Justice, found that Arizonans received an average of $1,023 from one or more of the four major tax cuts in the Recovery Act. It also found that tax breaks benefited Arizonans at every income level.
Nationally, the Recovery Act has provided more than $160 billion in tax relief to families and businesses.
