Baucus Praises HELP Committee Progress on Health Care Reform

Finance Chair commends HELP Committee for reporting bill out of committee, reaffirms commitment to continued work together on health care reform

Washington, DC – Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) today applauded the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee for approving its health care reform bill. Sen. Baucus, who has worked closely with HELP Committee throughout the reform process, reaffirmed his commitment to continue to work with the HELP Committee Members to bring legislation to the Senate floor that ensures quality, affordable health care for every American and lowers costs over the long-term.

"I commend Chairman Kennedy, Senator Dodd and the entire HELP Committee for their health care reform efforts and the Committee’s extensive work to approve this bill,” Baucus said. “Our Committees share the goal of reforming our nation's health care system to cut costs, improve quality and provide affordable coverage. We have worked together closely over many months and I look forward to continuing to work with the Members of the HELP committee to bring comprehensive health care reform legislation to the Senate floor."
