Re: Baucus, Levin, Camp statement on Korea FTA negotiations

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.), House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Sander Levin (D-Mich.) and House Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Dave Camp (R-Mich.) released the following statement today regarding the Korea FTA negotiations.

“We welcomed the June announcement by President Obama and South Korean President Lee making clear they would work to resolve U.S. beef and auto-related concerns in the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) by the November G20 leaders' meeting.  Though we were disappointed the U.S. and South Korea were unable to reach an agreement on these issues in November, we were pleased the President stood firm by his commitment to seek resolution.  We are pleased the negotiations are resuming this week and urge the President to stand firm in resolving the outstanding issues in these important sectors so we can move forward with the free trade agreement.”
