Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04) will attend the 5th Annual Modeling and Simulation Leadership Summit on Monday, February 1, 2010 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The M&S Leadership Summit, hosted by the National Training and Simulation Association (NTSA) and in cooperation with the Congressional Modeling and Simulation Caucus, will bring together key leaders from government, industry, and academia to draft a national plan for broadening the use of modeling and simulation.

A leadership summit to develop M&S policy goals at the federal, state, and local level. The 2010 M&S Leadership Summit theme is “Realizing the Promise of House Resolution 487: A Call to Action.” The event will bring together a panel of key leaders from industry, government, and academia to draft a national plan for broadening the use of modeling and simulation across four areas: Workforce Development, Technology Research and Development, Industrial Development, and Business Practice.

Modeling and simulation accounts for almost 4,500 high-wage jobs in Hampton Roads with an average annual salary of about $83,000. It continues to be one of Virginia’s fastest growing high-tech fields producing an economic output worth $365 million to the Hampton Roads region in 2007.
Congressman Forbes is founder and chairman of the Congressional Modeling and Simulation Caucus. Forbes sponsored H.Res.487, the focal point of the 2010 M&S Leadership Summit theme, to lay out a vision for Modeling and Simulation. The House of Representatives passed the resolution in 2007.
