Three-hour event features employers and job-hunting experts
TUCSON – U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords on Saturday will provide a forum for Southern Arizona job seekers to connect with more than 40 private- and public-sector employers.
Giffords will host a Job Seekers’ Expo featuring some of the area’s largest and most respected employers. It also will include representatives from agencies specializing in job placement for veterans and personnel experts who will offer advice and answer questions for individuals looking for new employment opportunities.
“Getting our economy back on track means putting Arizonans back to work,” said Giffords. “The goal of Saturday’s Job Seekers’ Expo is to provide a forum where people seeking employment can speak directly with potential employers as well as experts who can help them with practical advice, such as interview tips and polishing up their résumés.”
The three-hour event begins at 10 a.m. and Giffords will kick it off with brief remarks at 10:30 a.m.
The employers attending the event include GEICO, Canyon Ranch, Paragon Space Development, Carondelet Heath Network, Tucson Medical Center, Ventana Medical Systems, CODAC Behavioral Health Services, Horizon Moving Systems, Solon, The Solar Store, Fort Huachuca, the Transportation Security Administration and the Arizona Army and Air National Guards.
Among the resources on hand will be representatives from job training and placement agencies, including Pima County One Stop Career Center, Mature Worker Connection, the YWorks Program of the YWCA and the Veterans Workforce Investment Program.
Job seekers planning to attend should bring multiple copies of their résumé.
