On Monday, June 30, Giffords will join with the Arizona Research Institute for Solar Energy (AzRISE) to host the Southern Arizona Solar Energy Development Conference at the Arizona Historical Society in Tucson. This day-long event is aimed at government policy makers who recognize the need to make solar energy an integral part of the area's future growth.
In addition to Giffords, the list of speakers at the conference includes Tucson Mayor Bob Walkup, Scottsdale Mayor Mary Manross, Arizona Corporation Commissioners Bill Mundell and Kris Mayes, and Dr. Joseph Simmons, director of AzRISE. Media coverage of the conference is welcome.
On Tuesday, July 1, Giffords will host a Water Issues Town Hall at the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ in Sahuarita. This three-hour event is being held in response to constituent concerns about water availability and use.
Joining Giffords at the town hall will be officials from Pima County, the Bureau of Reclamation, Central Arizona Project, Arizona Water Institute, and Arizona Water Resources Research Center. The public and media are welcome.
