U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords will tour the Polytrauma Network Site at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System in South Tucson on Friday, February 23.
The site is where Arizona veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan are treated for serious brain injuries after receiving initial care. The site is the only polytrauma network site in the state.
Media interested in joining the 45-minute tour should contact Pepe Mendoza, the hospital's assistant public affairs officer, at 629-1819 or 444-2181.
Giffords, a member of the House Armed Services and Foreign Affairs committees, recently completed a congressional delegation tour of Iraq and Israel. She will visit the VA hospital before holding her first meeting with her Veterans Advisory Group.
