High School Students |
Welcome, students! This page is designed to provide high school-aged residents of Georgia’s Second Congressional District with information about programs and services that Congress and the federal government have provided to assist you in your education and as you begin to prepare for college. Financial Aid I am committed to making higher education accessible and affordable. Please visit my Frequently Asked Questions page for more information about the college financial aid process and the federal government’s resources to help you plan for college. You can also view the CRS Guide to Financial Aid, which guides students through the process of locating and applying for financial aid. This report was prepared by the Congressional Research Service for Members of Congress. For more information about Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship program, please visit GAcollege411.org. Academy Nominations For more information about applying for a nomination to a U.S. Service Academy, please visit my Service Academies page. Congressional Art Competition “An Artistic Discovery” is the annual art contest conducted by Members of Congress for high school students across the country. Students submit original works of art and the winning piece from each Congressional district goes on display as part of a year-long national exhibition in the Cannon Tunnel, an underground walkway to the Capitol from the House office buildings. The Congressional Art Competition has become increasingly popular among high school students in Georgia and across the country, and I am pleased to be a part of it each year and to help encourage young artists, promote art education, and give recognition to the outstanding work that our schools are doing to enable young people to realize their potential. Guidelines for the competition are as follows:
The competition usually begins in February and winners are announced in the spring. Because of the limited number of Page positions, not all Members can sponsor Pages at the same time. If you are interested in applying to be a House Page, please contact my district manager in Georgia. |
