Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney, Chair, Joint Economic Committee, convened a hearing entitled “Restoring the Economy: Strategies for Short-term and Long-term Change” on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 10:00 am in Room 106 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building. This hearing explored the short-term actions that are being taken to restore the economy to create a functioning credit system, and the long-term actions that must be taken to prevent the recurrence of this kind of financial disaster in the future. These issues were addressed by several distinguished witnesses, including Paul Volcker, Chairman of the President’s Economic Advisory Board.
