Statuary: In 1870, Nathanael Greene by Henry Kirke Brown was the first statue to be placed in Statuary Hall; in 1872, Roger Williams by Frank Simmons was the second statue placed there.

Paintings: Declaration of Independence in Congress, at the Independence Hall, Philadelphia, July 4th, 1776, by John Trumbull includes portraits of Stephen Hopkins and William Ellery, who signed on behalf of Rhode Island (Rotunda); General George Washington Resigning His Commission to Congress as Commander in Chief of the Army at Annapolis, Maryland, December 23, 1783, by John Trumbull includes a portrait of David Howell, a delegate from Rhode Island (Rotunda).
