Project: Chester Bridge in Perry County, MO – Deck Repair

The Chester Bridge crosses the Mississippi River and is the only route across the Mississippi River for a 120 mile stretch between Cape Girardeau, Missouri and St. Louis. If this bridge becomes unusable, it will hinder the growth and development of the entire region. I therefore request $1 million for bridge renovations and improvements for the Fiscal Year 2010 from the Transportation and Community and System Preservation account or the Delta Regional Transportation Development Program.

The road surface along Route 21 in Washington County, Missouri has deteriorated and is in much need of repair. I respectfully request $1 million to resurface Route 21 from Potosi, Missouri northward to the county line for Fiscal Year 2010 from the Transportation and Community and System Preservation account or the Delta Regional Transportation Development Program.

Project: Route 25 in Jackson, MO – Safety and Roadway Improvements

Amount: $750,000
Route 25 in Jackson, Missouri is a well-traveled road in rapidly growing community. Unfortunately, this stretch of roadway is heavily congested with commuters, residents, school traffic, and heavy machinery. An environmental study and engineering design work is needed to begin the process of alleviating traffic and dangerous conditions on Route 25 between Jackson Trail and the city limits of Jackson. This project will have a direct impact on the safety of Route 25. Therefore, I respectfully request $750,000 for an environmental study and engineering design for Fiscal Year 2010 from the Transportation and Community and System Preservation account or the Delta Regional Transportation Development Program.

Project: Route 32 in Dent County, MO – Roadway Improvements from County Road 605 to Route F

Amount: $800,000
Route 32 is a major thoroughfare in Dent County, Missouri that is the primary means of eastbound and westbound traffic. The funds requested from the subcommittee would be used to provide roadway improvements on Route 32 from County Road 605 to Route F in Dent County to address unsafe road conditions. Therefore, I am requesting the subcommittee provide $800,000 for this project for Fiscal Year 2010 from the Transportation and Community and System Preservation account or the Delta Regional Transportation Development Program.

Project: Route 34 in Bollinger County and Cape Girardeau County, MO – Safety Improvements and Resurfacing

Many residents of Bollinger County and Western Cape Girardeau County commute to work every day on Route 34. This area is full of winding roads which create heavy congestion and safety concerns. The Route 34 corridor is heavily-traveled and in dire need of attention. The funds requested would go to improve shoulders, as well as widen and straighten curves along this segment of Route 34. I am respectfully requesting $1 million for Route 34 for Fiscal Year 2010 from the Transportation and Community and System Preservation account or the Delta Regional Transportation Program.

Project: Route 63 in Phelps County and Maries County, MO – Engineering and Right of Way Improvements

South Central Missouri is serviced by Route 63 as the primary means of travel for Northbound and Southbound motorists. This stretch of Route 63 between U.S. 50 and I-44 is fraught with narrow stretches that provide little or no options for motorists to pull off the road. I respectfully request $1 million for roadway improvements to address this pressing safety issue for Fiscal Year 2010 from the Transportation and Community and System Preservation account or the Delta Regional Transportation Development Program.

Project: Route 63 in Phelps County, MO – Roadway Improvements

Route 63 in Rolla, Missouri is the primary means of travel through the Rolla business district and the Missouri University of Science and Technology. Funding for this project would be used to improve this heavily-traveled road between I-44 and State Route CC. Therefore I am requesting $1 million for roadway improvements for this project for Fiscal Year 2010 from the Transportation and Community and System Preservation account or the Delta Regional Transportation Development Program.

Project: Route 67 in Butler County, MO – Extend Existing Four-Lane South to Route 160
Recipient: Missouri Department of Transportation

Amount: $5,000,000
Route 67 in Butler County is part of the 67 corridor, a vital transportation link between St. Louis and Arkansas. To improve the safety of Route 67 in Butler County, I respectfully request $5 million from the Transportation and Community and System Preservation account or the Delta Regional Transportation Development Program in fiscal year 2010 for the expansion of four-lane highway south of Poplar Bluff to south of Route 160. The funds would also be used to rehabilitate the dangerous intersections on Route 67 at U.S. 160, as well as Missouri Highway 158. This amount is necessary so this highway can meet the growing demands of the area.

Amount: $300,000
The Washington County, Missouri County Building requires renovation so it will accommodate individuals with disabilities. I am requesting $300,000 from the FY2010 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations bill, Economic Development Initiatives account. The funds will be used for renovation and construction activities so the county building will be accessible to individuals with disabilities.
