The current Emergency Operations Center is located in the Dispatch area of the County Sheriff’s office with limited area of only 80 square feet that is only large enough for two radio operators. Funding for an improved Emergency Operations Center would address critical needs for adequate space, efficient operations, reliable protection and effective functionality that will serve the residents of Howell County and the nine counties in the region for any natural or man-made hazards identified in the Emergency Operations Plan. The area is in a high-risk area for severe weather and in close proximity to the New Madrid Fault Line. The center is anticipated to be a main staging area for the deployment of resources and emergency services in the case of an earthquake or other major disaster. I respectfully request $250,000 for renovation of an Emergency Operations Center in West Plains, Missouri.
