Reaction to President Obama's speech to the nation

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following statement in reaction to the President’s speech tonight:

Everyone agrees that we have to make BP pay for the incredible damage they have caused.  But the President is right--we also must work to make sure we create new sources of clean energy so we aren’t faced with this kind of disaster again.  We can end our dependence on oil with home grown solutions to our energy problems like wind power and energy efficiency technology, creating good paying jobs right here in Maine in the process.
