Full Committee hearing entitled, "Economic and Environmental Impacts of the Recent Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico.”
Chairman Barbara Boxer will convene the Full Committee on Tuesday, May 11th at 2:30 p.m. to examine issues surrounding the oil spill in the Gulf, including the impact on the economy and the environment. The committee expects to hear testimony from several corporations involved in the spill, including BP, Halliburton and Transocean. Witnesses will also include experts on the impacts to local economies, fisheries and tourism, as well as wildlife and natural resources. Senators from the coastal states are also expected to provide testimony.

Full Committee Hearing entitled, "Opportunities to Improve Transportation Safety."
Chairman Barbara Boxer will convene the Full Committee to examine opportunities to reduce injuries and fatalities associated with our nation’s highways by addressing a number of transportation safety issues, including distracted driving and texting, drunk driving, safety concerns impacting children and the elderly, and various infrastructure improvements, such as signage. Wednesday’s hearing is one in a series as the committee develops the next surface transportation authorization bill.
