Project will support approximately 300 employees at the shipyard
Congresswoman Chellie Pingree announced today that the Navy has awarded a $33.6 million contract modification for Bath Iron Works to do engineering and technical assistance for DDG 51 class destroyers.
"This is great news for Bath Iron Works and the Mainers who make their living there," said Pingree, a Member of the House Armed Services Committee. "I'm pleased that the Navy is recognizing BIW's world-class efficiency, skills, and expertise with this contract. This work is extremely important to the Navy."
The award of $33,657,696, is a modification to a previously awarded contract to exercise an option for the accomplishment of lead yard class services for the Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) class destroyer. BIW will provide technical assistance to the follow yard in the interpretation and application of the detailed design previously developed by Bath Iron Works.
The contract will support approximately 300 employees at the shipyard.
