Earth Day: Time to Celebrate and Commit

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following statement on the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.
 
earthPic1.jpg"Earth Day is a time for us to remember all that we have done over the last 40 years to clean up our air and water and protect our environment.  But today we face the greatest environmental challenge ever—climate change.  We can meet that challenge by creating a new home-grown clean energy industry which will lessen our dependence on foreign oil and create good paying jobs that can’t be exported."
