"I will take positions because they are right for the people of Tennessee's Fourth District, not because they are right for Democrats or Republicans alone."- Lincoln Davis

With an upbringing and background that is pure Tennessee; Lincoln Davis proudly serves Tennessee's Fourth Congressional District as one of the most independent Members of Congress. Lincoln came to Congress with the promise to work beyond party lines and find practical solutions to improve the lives of Tennesseans, saying, "I will take positions because they are right for the people of Tennessee's Fourth District, not because they are right for Democrats or Republicans alone."

Davis's commitment to public service began in the early 70's when he served as Tennessee state Jaycee president. His Jaycee service, coupled with the lessons learned as a young man, opened his eyes to the good that can be done by serving the public.

First elected Mayor of Byrdstown, Davis went on to serve in the Tennessee Legislature. During his service in the legislature Davis fought for long-term care for senior citizens, character education in schools and tough domestic violence legislation. Today, Davis continues to be an advocate for Tennesseans by working to create economic development in the rural 4th Congressional District, easing the tax burden for Tennessee's small businesses and working men and women, providing needed resources for often overlooked rural first responders, improving benefits and access to veterans' services, strengthening homeland security and fighting for a balanced budget that will better serve his constituents.

In his short time in the House, Lincoln has worked hard staying in touch with his constituents holding hundreds of public meetings throughout the sprawling twenty-four county district. At home in Tennessee you will often see Lincoln in his truck crisscrossing the 4th District's rural roads and highways while en route to his next chamber of commerce meeting, plant tour, school group visit, or veterans' medals presentation.

Lincoln serves on two key committees with significant importance to Tennesseans and our national security, energy, and scientific interests. A member of the House Appropriations Committee, Lincoln is only the 11th Tennessean to serve on the committee since it was formed in 1865. The Congressman is a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development. This post provides him with an avenue to promote infrastructure investments in rural Tennessee, protect our farming interests, bolster food nutrition programs, and care for public health. He is also a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water, which has jurisdiction over our critical national missions at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Y-12 National Security Complex.

Lincoln also serves on the House Science Committee. Davis's service on both posts allows him to be in an even more effective position to look after another critical national mission with direct impact to Tennesseans- Arnold Engineering Development Center, Arnold Air Force Base.

The owner of his own company, Diversified Construction, Lincoln Davis understands the needs of small business owners in Tennessee. In addition to building homes and bridges throughout rural Tennessee, Davis met payroll and faced the challenges that all Tennessee small businesses face.

Raised in rural Fentress County, Lincoln was taught the importance of hard work, helping your neighbors, being trustworthy, and was instilled with a strong sense of principles he holds today. He remains steadfast as an advocate for 2nd Amendment rights and pro-life causes.

Congressman Davis is also a member of the Congressional Blue Dog Coalition, a group of 54 fiscally conservative House Democrats whose goal is to balance the budget each year. As a member of the Blue Dog's Majority Whip team, Davis plays a key role in developing strategies to foster bi-partisan solutions for writing legislation that makes government work better for Tennessee and the Nation.

Away from his work as a public servant, Davis has always dedicated himself to family. He married his high school sweetheart Lynda, a recently retired elementary school teacher, in 1963. Together, Lincoln and Mrs. Davis raised three daughters: Larissa, Lynn, and Libby. In addition to hunting and working on the farm, Davis most enjoys spending his time with his five grandchildren: Ashton, Alexa, Andrew, Austin, and Adam. Lincoln earned a degree in agronomy from Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, TN.

Congressman and Mrs. Davis live in Pall Mall, Tennessee, on property his family purchased from Fentress County native, World War I hero, and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Alvin C. York. They are members of First Baptist Church in Byrdstown.
