Meeting with health care experts and tour of Tucson public safety facilities also planned
U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords on Thursday will address veterans’ health care issues at a “Partners in Public Health Luncheon” sponsored by the University of Arizona’s College of Public Health. The focus of Giffords’ remarks will be the importance of providing mental health services for veterans.
Following those remarks, the Tucson lawmaker will meet with local health care experts at Tucson Medical Center for a roundtable discussion on health care issues. Participants in the discussion are Jack Jewett of TMC; Laurie Lange of the Arizona Hospital Association; Ron Wagner of the Sierra Vista Hospital Board of Trustees; Stephanie Healy of the Hospital Council of Southern Arizona; Philip Tygiel of Tygiel Physical Therapy; and Kalyanraman Bharathan of the Southern Arizona Health Information Exchange.
Giffords begins her day tomorrow by participating in Tucson’s Public Safety Day. She will meet with Mayor Bob Walkup, Police Chief Richard Miranda and Fire Chief Dan Newburn before viewing public safety equipment purchased with federal funds.
