Washington, D.C. - Congressman Berman announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) a grant to support the development of a zero emission bus (ZEB) program. The program will evaluate the feasibility of replacing existing natural gas powered buses with a zero emission all-electric battery system.
“This grant is an important step in the ongoing efforts to dramatically cut emissions in the Valley and throughout LA. California has long been a leader in using alternative technology to reduce emissions, and with this grant we are one step closer to eliminating emissions from MTA’s entire bus fleet.”
