York, PA – Local businesses will be able to learn more about the financial and technical assistance programs available to them at a forthcoming “Small Business Forum” hosted by U.S. Congressman Todd Platts (PA-19).  Several federal, state and local agencies will be on hand to help local businesses identify resources to start, sustain and grow their businesses.

“Small businesses play a vital role in creating jobs and growing the economy,” said Congressman Platts. “Current economic conditions are presenting severe challenges for small businesses throughout the 19th Congressional District and one of my top priorities is to provide these businesses the opportunity to flourish and help strengthen our economy.”

Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the York County Economic Development Corporation, and the Small Business Development Center will discuss technical support and funding programs available to current and prospective small businesses to help them navigate the current economic climate.  The Internal Revenue Service will also be on-hand to discuss the tax implications of the new health care law. The forum will conclude with a question and answer session and networking opportunity.

There is no cost to attend the forum.  Registration begins at 8:00 a.m.  Those interested in attending the forum should contact Mary Weaver in Congressman Platts’ York office via e-mail at Mary.Weaver@mail.house.gov or via phone at 717-600-1919.
