The 35th District is comprised of a large area of South Central Los Angeles, the communities of Westchester and Playa del Rey as well as the cities of Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood and Lawndale.
Los Angeles is the second most populous city in the United States, home to almost 4 million people and the center of a metropolitan area with a population of almost 13 million.
The area historically known as South Central Los Angeles, often referred to as South Central, but officially renamed South Los Angeles, makes up the eastern part of the 35th District.
