Castle Statement Regarding Appointment of Patrick Harker to University of Delaware Presidency
WILMINGTON, DE
| December 1, 2006 -
Delaware Congressman Mike Castle released the following
statement today regarding the appointment of Patrick Harker, current
Dean of the Wharton School, as the new President of University of
Delaware.
"Today's announcement that Patrick Harker will become
University of Delaware's new President is exciting news for the
Delaware community. As current Dean of the Wharton School at the
University of Pennsylvania, Patrick will bring the needed expertise to
fill the role of President and I have confidence that he is the right
man for the job.
"However, although today's news makes us look to the future of the
University, there can be no discussion of the Presidency without
praising the hard work and dedication of David Roselle. Throughout the
17 years of David's tenure, he strengthened the University of Delaware
into a nationally recognized institution for excellence in education
and research, attracting top professors in their respective fields,
and helping build the University's endowment to over $1 billion.
David's knowledge, experience and talents will be missed, but I am sure
he will pass some of his wisdom on to Patrick Harker who I look forward
to meeting soon to discuss his goals and ideas for the future of
the University of Delaware."
