Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) today responded to Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s (D-MD) announcement that the Democrats’ lame duck majority will bring to the floor legislation ensuring that taxes will rise for many families and small businesses on January 1, 2011.

“Despite recent events and economic evidence, House Democrats clearly still believe in their failed tax and spend strategy,” said Congressman Price. “They want to raise taxes on families and small businesses even as entrepreneurs struggle to hire and get their start-ups off the ground. Republicans are committed to making sure that does not happen. Leader Hoyer and Speaker Pelosi should scrap this job-killing plan and provide for a clean, bipartisan vote on stopping the looming tax hikes. Their insistence on higher taxes shows a lack of understanding about the obstacles job creators face today. A tax increase is the last thing Americans need right now.”
