Price Statement on Anemic GDP Report

Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement today after reports that the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) grew at a disappointing two percent in the third quarter of 2010.

"For the millions of American families struggling to make ends meet, today's economic report is a sad reminder that the policies of the Obama Administration and Congressional Democrats have been a costly failure," said Congressman Price. "Meanwhile, the president and his allies on Capitol Hill continue to enthusiastically promote and pursue a big government agenda. They are refusing to admit that their deficit spending, looming tax increases, and onerous new government burdens on job creators are standing in the way of robust private sector economic growth.

“Despite today’s report and an unemployment rate that remains unacceptably high, Democrats in Washington still believe that more spending, more taxes, and more government are the answers to our economic woes. Republicans understand that we cannot continue down that road to fiscal ruin while ignoring the economic destruction it has left behind. That is why we are fighting to reverse the growth in government and spending and keep taxes low so that American entrepreneurs will no longer see opportunities for growth and job creation held hostage to chronic uncertainty.”
